Book of the Week #17

My pick of the week:

These were a couple of books I snagged that didn't look impressive, but sounded good. I was happy I picked them up, though. They were a great werewolf set of books. If you're a shifter fan, then this new adult duology is for you!

Book: Rapture

Author: Quinn Loftis

Release Date: December 25, 2013

Triktapic, the deadly dark elf assassin, has been restored by the Forest Lords to his rightful place as king of the Elven realm. Now, he must face his former comrades as he attempts to stop Lorsan, king of the dark elves, from enslaving the human race. Lorsan has already begun distributing Rapture, the irresistible drink that destroys those who unknowingly become addicted to it. Will Cassie, his Chosen, be able to give Trik the strength he needs to face his dark past?

Meanwhile, Cassie’s best friend, Elora, is in a fight for her own life. Elora, her mother, Lisa, and a small band of light elves have traveled deep into the dark elf realm in hopes of rescuing Cassie and Trik. But their mission quickly turns into a battle for their own lives as they are surrounded by Lorsan and his warriors. Though outnumbered ten to one, the humans and elves fight heroically. They fight for a King once lost, but now found. They fight for the human realm that doesn’t yet know it is in need of saving. They fight for love; a love that has already been discovered and a love that is waiting to be revealed. Despite their valiant efforts, the band is captured and held captive by the dark elf king.

The peaceful world that Cassie and Elora knew is long gone, shattered by their realization that elves walk secretly among them, and are bent on their destruction. Soon, each of the girls will be forced to choose her own path. Cassie must decide to which world she belongs and Elora must decide if she will fight for a warrior hell bent on keeping her from his side.

Two species, human and elf, stand on the precipice of war, united in one goal; shatter the dark elf king’s plan, and unite a divided race under the rule of the one true King.

Review:

Yeah, where to begin...Gah, I LOVED this book!!!!  I am a fan of Addison Moore and was curious of her new book as a new adult instead of young adult.  I think she more than proved she is just AWESOME!!!

This book was a great romance with just the right amount of steamy and sexy.  The story is about true love and the loss of innocence.  The characters were portrayed with consistency and that made me able to connect with them more.

This story shows you that life is rarely perfect and everyone has their own journey in life.  I liked the challenges that the characters faced and how they were resolved.  The plot was unique and not overdone which kept me engrossed in it!

New adult contemporary romance is the new trend right now.  Addison Moore's Someone to Love is one not to be missed.  She has written the perfect college sexy read with real heart.  I have to give this book five stars because I absolutely fell in love with it:)

Teaser Sunday #5

Welcome to teaser Sunday!!! Each week, I will post a teaser from one of my current releases or a work in progress. Stay tuned and enjoy!

Today I'm sharing a snippet from my upcoming February 2014 release, Dancing with Demons.

Have fun!

When I got to my locker, I unlocked it and sat my messenger bag down by my feet.  I took my coat off and shoved it in my locker as hastily as possible.
Lucky me, I pulled off my scarf with one swift motion and it caught on my necklace.  The force of my pull snapped the clasp of my necklace and the most important piece of jewelry I owned skittered across the tiled floor.
I gasped in surprise and then panicked.  Dropping the scarf, I reached for the heart pendant and scooped it off the floor.  I squeezed it in the palm of my hand, assuring myself that it was safe.
I slid the heart in the pocket of my jeans for now and picked up my scarf to assess the damage of the necklace itself.  Once I managed to get it apart, I tossed the scarf in my locker.
The clasp was mangled and I frowned in disappointment.  What was I going to do?  I couldn’t wear it now.  I was so screwed.
I didn’t even hear Halle come up behind me and nearly jumped out of my skin at the sound of her voice.
“What’s going on?  Oh geez, I didn’t mean to scare you,” Halle said.
I turned to her with panic stricken eyes and she met my gaze.  Then she frowned.
“What happened in the two minutes I was gone?”
“Umm, my necklace caught on my scarf and the clasp on the chain is busted,” I replied.
“Oh no, no, that is so not good.  Where is the pendant?”
“The pendant is in my pocket.  I managed to grab it when it slid across the floor.  What am I going to do, Halle?”
“You’re going to go to class and keep your eyes to yourself.  Then you are going to avoid Matt like the plague.  We’ll go to the jeweler’s after school.”
I nodded in agreement and slid the chain in my pocket with the pendant.  I slammed my locker in frustration and stormed off to class, leaving Halle just standing there momentarily before chasing after me.  I was too angry to care.
That was when the cracks started.  They started out as lines spider webbing into a bigger picture.  My necklace breaking was just the first crack in my life, the start of it all.
